Inspired by the artistic legacy and distinguished career of one of the great figures of Romanian lyrical art, the Elena Teodorini Academy – International Opera Masterclass is a space dedicated to the training, artistic dialogue, and professional development of opera singers.
Led by the renowned soprano Nelly Miricioiu, the masterclass offers a broad perspective on the development of the contemporary opera artist, combining in-depth repertoire study with insights into the demands of an international career, the development of a distinctive stage identity, and the essential connection between technique, expression, and artistic presence.
More than an opportunity for vocal refinement, the masterclass seeks to create an authentic space for exchange between generations, where artistic knowledge and first-hand stage experience can be shared, offering participants the opportunity for direct dialogue with an artist who has built an outstanding career on the world’s great opera stages.

Oltenia Philharmonic of Craiova
1. MASTERCLASS OVERVIEW
The Craiova Romanian Opera organizes the Elena Teodorini Academy – International Opera Masterclass, led by soprano Nelly Miricioiu, from September 27 to October 3, 2026, at the Oltenia Philharmonic of Craiova.
Nelly Miricioiu is one of the great figures of the international operatic world, an exceptional soprano and distinguished vocal pedagogue, whose prestigious career has taken her to the leading opera stages around the world. Renowned for her remarkable artistic versatility, she has performed an exceptionally diverse repertoire, ranging from the refinement of bel canto to the expressive intensity of verismo.
The masterclass will take place from September 27 to October 2, 2026, at the Oltenia Philharmonic of Craiova, and will conclude with the Elena Teodorini Academy Gala on October 3, 2026, on the stage of the Oltenia Philharmonic of Craiova, with the participants performing with piano accompaniment.
Classes will be held daily from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and are open to students (undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels) as well as vocal performers, with no age limit.
Both active and passive participants will be accepted (see the registration form here).
2. REGISTRATION
Registration period: September 1–21, 2026, via email at consultantartistic@operacraiova.ro
All participants must submit the completed registration form to the email address above, together with a copy of their identity card or passport.
3. PARTICIPATION FEES
3.1. Active participants: RON 1,000
Employees of the Craiova Romanian Opera who wish to participate as active participants will pay a reduced fee of RON 500.
3.2. Passive participants: RON 500
3.3. The masterclass fee must be paid by the start date of the course by bank transfer to the Craiova Romanian Opera, to the following account: RO58TREZ29121G335000XXXX, held with the Craiova Treasury, or in cash at the Craiova Romanian Opera’s box office, at the institution’s premises at 3C Popoveni Street, Craiova.
3.4. The masterclass fee is non-refundable and does not include participants’ accommodation, meals, or transportation expenses.
3.5. Active participants will receive Certificates of Participation.
3.6. The final list of active participants will be published on operacraiova.ro.
